Why Not Stay in Barcelona

Barcelona is unmissable. But sleeping there in summer is expensive (€150-300/night), noisy, hot (urban heat island with no breeze) and stressful (impossible parking, pickpockets, crowds).

The alternative: stay 45 minutes south in Cubelles, in a hotel with a pool and AC, and spend the day visiting Barcelona. In the evening, return to the calm, jump in the pool and dine at the hotel restaurant.

Getting There From Cubelles

By car (45 min)

The C-32 or AP-7 takes you straight in. Park in a covered car park (BSM Plaça Catalunya or Passeig de Gràcia, roughly €20-30/day).

By train (1h)

Cubelles station is on the Rodalies R2 Sud line. Regular trains to Barcelona-Sants and Passeig de Gràcia. A few euros and no parking stress.

The Ideal One-Day Itinerary

Morning: Gothic Quarter and Boquería

Medieval streets, the cathedral, Plaça Reial. Then La Boquería market on the Ramblas for fresh juice and tapas.

Midday: waterfront

Walk down the Ramblas to the port. Stroll along the Barceloneta seafront. Lunch at a fresh fish restaurant by the harbour.

Afternoon: Sagrada Família or Park Güell

The city’s most impressive monument or panoramic views from the park. Book tickets online in advance for both.

Back to Cubelles
